Location: In Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Accessible by US 85 and 212. Nearby cities/towns include Absarokee, Ashland, Billings, Columbus, and Red Lodge.
Facilities: 48 campgrounds, picnic areas, trails (100s of miles), scenic drives.
Activities: Camping, hunting, fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, mountain climbing, cross-country skiing.
Special Features: Diverse landscape of rugged mountains, rock outcrops, snowfields, ridges, grasslands, and mountain meadows. Areas of interest include Granite Peak, the highest point in Montana at 12,799 feet; Grasshopper Glacier, which contains millions of frozen grasshoppers believed to be 200 years old; Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Area, encompassing two distinctly different mountain ranges.
