The cutlass fish reaches a length of 2 m and a weight of 1 kg. It inhabits the Sea of Japan, the East China Sea, and the South China Sea. The fish is found off the shores of India, western Africa, and Primor’e Krai (USSR). A marine school fish, it feeds on sardines. The cutlass fish has some commercial value.
