| By shopping online, consumers are extending Black Friday, the traditional start of the holiday shopping frenzy, to Cyber Monday, when shoppers make a purchase on a retailer's Web site after checking out the product in-store during the weekend. Prior to Thanksgiving, Mondays were the biggest online shopping day of the week; that pattern continued both on Cyber Monday and the two following Mondays. In 2006, there was a surge in online holiday shopping that lasted beyond Cyber Monday (the Monday following the Thanksgiving holiday). |
