Any of a group of plant hormones which elicit certain plant growth and development responses, especially by promoting cell division.

Natural cytokinins and auxins, along with hormones and vitamins, increase plant growth and yield, strengthen stems, and improve seed germination.
Stress results in an imbalance between growth hormones (auxin, cytokinin and gibberillic acid) and stress hormones (ethylene and abscisic acid).
The researchers also found extra activity for receptors for cytokinins.
