Czolgosz, Leon (1873–1901) assassin; born in Detroit, Mich. The fourth child of Polish immigrants, he worked in a wire mill and attended socialist meetings. Following a mental breakdown in 1898, he shot President William McKinley in Buffalo, N.Y. (1901) and was electrocuted that same year. How to thank TFD for its existence?
