Díaz Ordaz graduated from the department of law of the university in Pueblo. He was a judge, the chairman of the Pueblo State Supreme Court, prorector of a university, and secretary-general of the state government. From 1943 to 1946 he was a deputy at the national congress, and from 1946 to 1952 he was a senator. He held various posts in the Mexican Ministry of Internal Affairs from 1952 to 1956 and was himself minister of internal affairs from 1958 to 1963. He was president of the country from 1964 to 1970. Diaz Ordaz’s government proclaimed its adherence to the principles of independence, noninterference, and self-determination and held to the policy of peaceful coexistence of states with different social and political systems.
