DDN(Defense Data Network) An Internet-based global communications network created by the U.S. Department of Defense. In April 1996, users were moved to the more modern Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) made up of NIPRnet (Non-classified IP Router Network) and SIPRnet (Secret IP Router Network).
