Diu
a small island off the NW coast of India: together with a mainland area, it formed a district of Portuguese India (1535--1961); formerly part of the Indian Union Territory of Goa, Daman, and Diu (1962--87)

Diu 

an island in the Arabian Sea lying to the south of the Kathiawar Peninsula. It is about 13 kilometers in length and 52 sq km in area. The port city of Diu is located on the island’s east shore. Formerly a colony of Portugal (1535-1961), Diu has been a centrally administered territory (along with Goa and Daman) of India since 1962.
