DMB
(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) The first mobile TV service. Developed in South Korea and introduced in 2005, DMB uses satellite transmission (S-DMB) and terrestrial towers (T-DMB). DMB has also been deployed in several European countries, including Germany, France and Norway. DMB is based on the international digital audio broadcasting standard (DAB), and DMB devices can receive DAB broadcasts (see DAB). See DTMB and mobile TV.

More than 21 million DMB devices have been sold since South Korea started the world's first such service in 2005, according to a state committee.
South Korea spearheaded the DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) standards and launched S-DMB (Satellite-DMB) and T-DMB (Terrestrial-DMB) in 2005, while Japan launched ISDBT (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial), or 1-seg, in the same year (2005).
South Korea, an IT powerhouse, has more than 14 million DMB terminals.
