DMTF

(Distributed Management Task Force, Inc., Portland, OR, www.dmtf.org) An industry consortium founded in 1992 that is involved with the development, support and maintenance of management standards for PCs. Its goal is to reduce the cost and complexity of PC management. Focusing initially on the DMI standard, the DMTF is involved with other management technologies, including CIM and DEN. The DMTF was originally the Desktop Management Task Force. See DMI, CIM, WBEM and DEN. See also DTMF.

The DMTF (Distributed Management Task Force) originally developed CIM (Common Information Model) and WBEM (Web-Based Enterprise Management) standards.
Continuing its breakthrough work in delivering the critical standards that enable vendor-independent, end-to-end system and network management, this week the DMTF will unveil the latest in systems, server and Web services management standards; host interoperability events; and provide numerous educational sessions to the management industry.
The DMTF is playing a key role in the evolution of management in the Web services arena, and WS-CIM is a critical piece that delivers crucial flexibility in Web services implementations.
