DOS Editor

The DOS Edit program is a full-screen text editor starting with DOS 5 for creating ASCII text files (batch files). To create or edit a file, type edit followed by the name of the file. For example, to edit AUTOEXEC.BAT, type:

             edit autoexec.bat

DOS Editor is easy to use and help is online. Use the Arrow keys to move around. Press Alt-F for the File menu and select Exit when you're done.

Note!
You must have the QBASIC.EXE program in your DOS directory to run the DOS Editor (EDIT.COM).

For DOS versions previous to 5, see DOS Edlin.
