DOS ScanDisk |
0.07 sec. |
DOS ScanDiskStarting with MS-DOS 6.2, an external command that detects and repairs errors on disk and provides a menu interface that prompts the user. Following are syntax examples:
scandisk check default drive
scandisk d: check drive d:
If ScanDisk finds unreadable areas on the disk, it tries to recover the data by moving them to other clusters. It then marks the clusters as "bad" so they cannot be used again. If ScanDisk finds improperly closed files, it converts them to .CHK files like the DOS Chkdsk command. Typically, these files are worthless and should be deleted. See ScanDisk.
