Multifunction drives are grouped into three categories based on their functionality: DVD Multi drives can write to DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM media; DVD Super Combo drives support DVD-R, -RW, +R and +RW media; and DVD Super Multi drives can handle all five media formats (-R, -RW, +R, +RW and RAM). Additionally, the Satellite P15-S420 includes a built-in DVD +-R/+-RW drive to easily view and record DVDs without the worry of compatibility issues, and the Satellite P15-S470 comes standard with a DVD Multi drive that can be used as a second hard drive, for recording digital content, or burning CDs and DVDs. Panasonic today announced that it will expand its SW-9571-CYY DVD MULTI Drive support for the UNIX/Linux platforms through a set of new customers that includes KOM Networks, Luminex and Objective Data Storage. |
