(2) Designations for Intel 386 and 486 chips. The 386DX was a 386 with a 32-bit data path in contrast to the 386SX, which used a 16-bit data path. The 486DX was a 486 with a math coprocessor in contrast to the 486SX, which had no coprocessor. See DX2 and DX4.
