A Unix-based operating system from Sequent Computer that ran on its Symmetry series of x86 symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) servers. IBM acquired Sequent in 1999.

SCO claimed Sequent agreed to restrictions on the transfer of DYNIX/ptx to third parties as it was a derivative of SCO's Unix System V.
These include either the RS6000 SNI:P running the AIX operating system, or the NUMA-Q 'quad'-based processing platform, running Dynix/ptx.
Sequent Computer Systems has been a VERITAS Software partner since becoming one of the first VERITAS Software OEMs to embed VERITAS Volume Manager and VERITAS File System, which it did in its Sequent DYNIX/ptx operating system.
