Dablon, Claude (klōd däblôN`), 1619?–1697, French Jesuit missionary in North America. He went from France to Canada in 1655 and worked first among the Onondaga Indians in New York, then (1661) among the Cree Indians in the Hudson Bay region. In 1669 he went to take charge of the Western missions, with headquarters at Sault Ste Marie. He accompanied Father Allouez Allouez, Claude Jean (klōd zhäN älwā`), 1622–89, French Jesuit missionary in Canada and the American Midwest. .....
