Dabo, Leon

    0.01 sec.
Dabo, Leon (dä`bō), 1868–1960, American painter, b. Detroit. He worked with John La Farge, studied in Paris under Puvis de Chavannes, and was influenced by Whistler and by Japanese landscape painting. Dabo's own landscapes of Hudson River scenes often employ mists and silvery half-lights. He painted numerous pictures of the sea, and his murals (1902) in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Brooklyn, N.Y., are well known. He also designed stained-glass windows. Dabo was one of the organizers of the Armory Show in 1913.
