Dagu

Dagu 

(also Daju or Tagu), a people inhabiting the southwestern outskirts of Kordofan Province in the Sudan and certain areas on the Darfur plateau on both sides of the Sudan-Chad border. They number more than 100,000 (1967, estimate). Their language belongs to the language group of central and eastern Sudan. A substantial number of Dagu know Arabic. Their religion is Islam of the Sunnite persuasion. The chief pursuits are farming (rice, wheat, and millet) and livestock raising.
