    0.01 sec.
Daneshvar, Iuliia Prokof’evna

Born Mar. 24 (Apr. 6), 1912, in Moscow; died Oct. 6, 1948, in Ashkhabad. Soviet painter and graphic artist. Honored Art Worker of the Turkmen SSR (1944).

From 1931 to 1937, Daneshvar studied at the Moscow Art Institute. Among her instructors were L. A. Bruni, D. S. Moore, and A. A. Deineka. In 1938 she moved to Ashkhabad, where she became a teacher in the Turkmen Art Academy. Her works include genre scenes from the life of Soviet Turkmenia (To the Front for the Motherland, 1943–15, and Needlework, 1947). Daneshvar also painted portraits, including one of a student of the Turkmen Art Academy, A. Khadzhiev (1940). All the works mentioned are located in the Museum of Fine Arts of the Turkmen SSR in Ashkhabad. Daneshvar’s work, with its contrasting bright-colored planes and austere drawing, is distinguished by decorative expressiveness.
