Dantzig, George B.

Dantzig, George B. (Bernard) (1914–  ) operations researcher; born in Portland, Ore. A chief combat analyst during World War II, and father of linear programming, he taught longest at Stanford University (1966). A National Academy of Sciences member (1977), he is the author of Linear Programming and Extensions (1963) and Compact City (1973).
