Daphniphyllales [‚daf·ni·fə′lā·lēz] (botany) An order of dicotyledonous plants in the subclass Hamamelidae, consisting of a single family with one genus,Daphniphyllum, containing about 35 species; dioecious trees or shrubs native to eastern Asia and the Malay region, they produce a unique type of alkaloid and often accumulate aluminum and sometimes produce iridoid compounds.
