Dashkov, Dmitrii Vasil’evich
Born Dec. 25, 1788 (Jan. 5, 1789) in Moscow; died Nov. 26 (Dec. 8). 1839, in St. Petersburg. Russian statesman. Dashkov served as minister of justice from 1829 to 1839. He participated in the creation of the first Code of Laws of the Russian Empire and organized an inventory of the holdings of the Moscow Archives. In 1826 and 1835, Dashkov worked on the commissions on the peasant question. He was an active member of the Arzamas literary society.
