Dasht

 

(Persian, “desert”), the name for arid desert plains (stony, sandy, or salt marsh) in the Iranian uplands. It is a component of the proper name of the deserts—for example, Dasht-i-Kavir, Dasht-i-Lut, and Dasht-i-Margo.
