(Dataquest Inc., San Jose, CA, www.dataquest.com) A major market research and analysis firm in the information field. Dataquest offers market intelligence on more than 25 topics and provides conferences, annual subscriptions and custom research. Founded in 1971 as a unit of First Texas Inc., a Houston-based brokerage firm, it was spun off in 1976. In 1978, it was acquired by A.C. Nielsen Company, which itself was acquired by The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation in 1984. In 1995, Dataquest was acquired by the GartnerGroup. See Gartner.
