Datia (dŭ`tēä), town (1991 pop. 64,477), Madhya Pradesh state, N central India. It is a district administrative center and a market for food grains and cotton products. Handloom weaving is an important industry. Datia's large square palace (17th cent.) is one of the finest examples of Hindu architecture in N India.

HEAVY rain beginning Sunday evening hit several parts of Madhya Pradesh, disrupting normal life in the Bhopal, Rajgarh, Sehore, Datia, Sagar, Ujjain, Gwalior, Vidisha, Harda and Raisen districts.
The twin cities of Orchha (16 km) and Datia (25 km).
The districts which were declared drought-affected are Alirajpur, Ashok Nagar, Anuppur, Barwani, Bhind, Balaghat, Burhanpur, Chhatarpur, Dewas, Dindori, Datia, Damoh, Guna, Gwalior, Jhabua, Jabalpur, Katni, Khandwa, Morena, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Panna, Ratlam, Raisen, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, Sagar, Sehore, Shivpuri, Sheopur Kalan, Shajapur, Tikamgarh, Umaria and Vidisha.
