Davenport, Guy (Mattison, Jr.) (1927– ) writer, translator, educator; born in Anderson, S.C. A Harvard Ph.D., he joined the University of Kentucky English faculty (1963). His writing, distinctive in its erudition and allusiveness, encompassed essays, poetry, and experimental fiction.
