David Zaslavskii

Zaslavskii, David Iosifovich 

Born Jan. 1 (13), 1880, in Kiev; died Mar. 28, 1965, in Moscow. Soviet publicist. Became a member of the CPSU in 1934.

Zaslavskii was first published in 1904. In 1928 he began to work in the editorial office of Pravda, submitting mainly topical satires devoted to contemporary Soviet and international themes. Zaslavskii was the author of the publicistic and historical-biographical books Essays on the History of the North American United States in the 18th and 19th Centuries (1931), Saltykov-Shchedrin (1939), andF. M. Dostoevski! (1956). He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, three other orders, and also medals.
