Davis, Sammy, Jr. (1925–90) singer, dancer; born in New York City. A short, multi-talented entertainer, he began his career tapping and singing at the age of four with his family. He was working in night clubs in 1954, when a near fatal car crash changed his life. He converted to Judaism and made his Broadway debut in Mr. Wonderful, which led to a film career (1956–89). He recorded 40 albums but in later years was best known for his appearances at Las Vegas and on television. How to thank TFD for its existence?
