Dawson, John M. (Myrick) (1930– ) physicist; born in Champaign, Ill. He was a researcher at Princeton (1956–73), then moved to the University of California: Los Angeles (1973), while concurrently serving as consultant to several major research institutions. He made significant advances in studies of plasma, atomic, and molecular physics.
