Deák’s Party
a political party in Hungary; founded in 1865 by F. Deák. It represented the interests of the Hungarian artistocracy and big bourgeoisie, who were supporters of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867. As the ruling party from 1867 to 1875, it promoted the consolidation of the dualist regime. In 1875, Deák’s Party combined with the Left Center Party, headed by K. Tisza. to form the Liberal Party.
