De Land (də lănd`), resort city (1990 pop. 16,491), seat of Volusia co., NE Fla.; inc. 1882. It has dairies, citrus packing plants, and lumber mills. Other products are electrical and electronic parts, clothing, and medical supplies. De Land is the seat of Stetson Univ. Nearby are Native American burial grounds and Ponce de Leon Springs.
