Demobilization
the transfer of armed forces and entire sectors of the national economy from wartime to peacetime status. Demobilization provides at the end of a war for the reduction of the armed forces to regular peacetime forces by disbanding troop units, headquarters, installations, and institutions formed during wartime, the discharge of surplus personnel into the reserve, and the return to the national economy of property confiscated during mobilization.
