Dead Horse Ranch State Park Location: Across the Verde River from Cottonwood. The Verde River Greenway, a 6-mile stretch between the Tuzigoot and Bridgeport bridges, is also managed as a unit of the park. Facilities: A 22-site campground (most can accommodate 2 camping units), including both electric and non-electric hookup sites, showers, restrooms, dump station, picnic areas, picnic shelters, group day-use areas, boat ramp, multi-use trails, concession/gift shop, visitor center (é) . Activities: Camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, wildlife viewing. Special Features: The park's 3,300-foot elevation means mild temperatures for outdoor activities, and the Verde River Greenway within the park features a Cottonwood/Willow riparian gallery forest and abundant wildlife.
