Dean, Jay

    0.03 sec.
Dean, (Jay Hanna) “Dizzy” (1911–74) baseball player, broadcaster; born in Lucas, Ark. One of baseball's most memorable personalities, he won 30 games and the Most Valuable Player award in 1934 as a (right-handed) pitcher for the world champion St. Louis Cardinals. When his career ended in 1947, he became a baseball broadcaster and was known for his colorful, if ungrammatical use of the English language. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1953.
