On the southeastern border of IN, east of Columbus; organized Mar 7, 1803 (prior to statehood). Name Origin: For Gen. Henry Dearborn (1751-1829), an officer in the Revolutionary War, MA legislator, U.S. secretary of war (1801-09), and Minister to Portugal (1822-24)
