ultraviolet

ultraviolet
An invisible band of radiation at the upper end of the visible light spectrum. With wavelengths from 10 to 400 nm, ultraviolet (UV) starts at the end of visible light and ends at the beginning of X-rays. The primary source of ultraviolet light is the sun, and most of the UV that reaches earth is in the lower-frequency, longer-wavelength Ultraviolet "A" region (see below).

Although ultraviolet (UV) light is widely known as a disinfectant, it is also used to erase EPROM chips. After several minutes of exposure to UV light, the chip can be programmed again (see EPROM).

   Ultraviolet Region Nanometers (nm)

   Long Wave "A" UVA 315-400
   Medium Wave "B" UVB 280-315
   Short Wave "C" UVC 100-280

Ultraviolet in the Spectrum
The ultraviolet band comes after visible light and ends at the beginning of X-rays.

ultraviolet
the part of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths shorter than light but longer than X-rays; in the range 0.4 × 10--6 and 1 × 10--8 metres

ultraviolet [¦əl·trə′vī·lət]
(physics)
Pertaining to ultraviolet radiation. Abbreviated UV.

The SolidSpec-3700 Series UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer is available in two models, including the SolidSpec 3700 for standard applications and the 3700DUV for deep UV measurement to 165 rim.
It is a lifetime fluorescence system that uses easily interchangeable light sources, including pulsed laser diodes, a 340 LED and a deep UV 280 LED for analzing proteins directly from tissue samples.
It utilizes a chemical heat reaction generated from the changing phase of amorphous to crystal, instead of photo resist, in the fine pitch recording of electron beam or deep UV laser.
