Deisenhofer, Johann (dī`zənhō'fər), 1943–, German chemist, Ph.D. Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry, 1974. He was a researcher at the Max Planck Institute until 1987 when he joined the staff at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. In 1988, Deisenhofer was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, along with Hartmut Michel Michel, Hartmut (mĭkh`əl), 1948–, German biochemist, Ph.D. Univ. of Würzburg, 1977. .....
