Dej 

a city in northern Rumania, in the region of Cluj. Its population is 30,000 (1969). It is a railroad junction. In Dej there is a woodworking combine, as well as the paper-and-pulp, cement, and food-processing industries (flour, butter, and meat canning). Rock salt is mined near Dej.
