deltoid [′del‚tȯid] (anatomy) The large triangular shoulder muscle; originates on the pectoral girdle and inserts on the humerus. (biology) Triangular in shape. (mathematics) The plane curve traced by a point on a circle while the circle rolls along the inside of another circle whose radius is three times as great.
