demoscene A worldwide community of programmers and artists ("demomakers") who create images and animations for pleasure. Many participate in "demogroups" where talent is pooled to produce the "demo." The demoscene started out in Europe in the 1980s when programmers hacked the first computer games and changed the way they behaved.
