DOI(Digital Object Identifier) A method of applying a persistent name to documents, publications and other resources on the Internet rather than using a URL, which can change over time. DOI uses the Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI) Handle System technology, which uses a naming system and naming servers to keep track of the location of the resources. To fully implement the system, a browser plug-in is required that will resolve the handle used on a Web page that identifies the resource. Otherwise, a proxy server is required. Author and powerboat expert Chuck Luttrell (a Search and Rescue Specialist and a Department of the Interior certified instructor in motorboat operation with more than fourteen years of professional boating experience that included being a boat patrol ranger in Kentucky, Texas, and Lake Mead, Nevada) shows how to deal with flooding, capsizing and sinking; people overboard; engine failure and grounding; navigational loss of position; other boaters in need of rescue; and much more. One of the most important roles for the Department of the Interior is we have oversight over a number of the historic sites and public lands that are tied to the heritage of all Americans," he said. |
