Desoria Glacialis
a primitively wingless insect of the order Collembola. Its body measures 1.5-2 mm long, and its coloring is dark, ranging to black. The body is covered with hairs. The Desoria glacialis jumps very well. It is sometimes found in swarms in Alpine glaciers in an active state despite relatively low temperatures (near 0° C). Some other species of Collembola from the genera Podura and Achorutes are found in great numbers in temperate regions on the snow on warm winter days. As a result they acquired the name “the snow fleas.” Want to thank TFD for its existence?
