Deutsch-Französische Jahrbücher 

(German-French Yearbooks), a journal published in Paris in February 1844 under the editorship of K. Marx and A. Ruge. Only one double issue appeared. The journal published several letters written by Marx in 1843, Marx’ “On the Jewish Question” and “Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right: Introduction,” and Engels’ “Notes for a Critique of Political Economy” and “England’s Position.” These works reflected Marx’ and Engels’ shift from idealism to materialism and from revolutionary democracy to communism. Publication of the journal ceased because of fundamental differences between Marx and the bourgeois radical Ruge and because of police interference with the distribution of the journal in Germany. The Deutsch-Franzosische Jahrbücher was reprinted in 1925 in Leipzig.
