The fourth period of the Paleozoic Era, covering the geological time span between about 412 and 354 × 106years before present.

According to a report by ABC News, earlier this year, the team, led by Australian palaeontologist Dr John Long, predicted some ancient fish from the Devonian era, had an attachment to their pelvic bone, which were used by males to fertilize females.
Something similar happened at the end of the Devonian era 364m years ago.
The fin, the size of an adult hand, belonged to a six-foot fish from the Devonian era.
