Diakov, Viacheslav

D’iakov, Viacheslav Mikhailovich 

Born Feb. 24 (Mar. 8), 1854; died Sept. 28 (Oct. 10), 1880. Russian revolutionary, Narodnik (Populist). Born in Vologda Province, the son of a deacon.

D’iakov enrolled at St. Petersburg University in 1874. The same year he organized studies for workers of the Chesher Factory and soldiers of the Moscow Regiment in St. Petersburg and trained workers as propagandists. When D’iakov was arrested on Apr. 12, 1875, the police found on him his draft of the Program of Social Revolutionary Propaganda. He was sentenced to ten years of hard labor and died of tuberculosis in the Novo-Belgorod prison for hard labor.
