Dicke, Robert H. (Henry) (1916– ) physicist; born in St. Louis, Mo. He taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1941–46) before becoming a professor at Princeton (1946–84). He made major contributions to the relativistic theory of gravity, the "big bang" theory of the universe, and quantum-mechanical radiation. |
