An early and important use of the technique was in the Linotype machine (1884), but the mass-production automobile assembly line gave die casting its real impetus. The North American Die Casting Association (NADCA) has introduced "Creating Value with Die Casting," a program to help engineers and designers evaluate the potential for using die cast components. Photographs and descriptions are provided of metalforming machines, forming machines and press brakes, die casting and injection molding machines and equipment accessories. Mold temperatures for Thixomolding magnesium alloys are similar to those temperatures used in die casting (200-250 C or 390-480 F). |
