Dietz, Robert Sinclair

Dietz, Robert Sinclair (1914–  ) geophysicist; born in Westfield, N.J. He served as oceanographer for various institutions (1937–77) before becoming a geology professor at Arizona State University (1977). A pioneer in the field of plate tectonics, he also contributed to studies of the mineralogy of meteorite craters and the ocean floor.
