remaster

To create a new version from the original. It may refer to audio, video or film remastering, in which the original recording or film is located and becomes the input to more modern or sophisticated editing and publishing processes. It may also refer to software remastering, which enhances a version of source code for distribution to a new audience.

IMAX-ing ``The Polar Express'' meant converting existing footage to IMAX format via a process called digital remastering (DMR).
Digital remastering makes it shine, but the real draw is the bonus disc containing two previously unreleased concert performances from 1988: a five-song acoustic show for the BBC and one at Los Angeles's famous Roxy.
This also required the digital remastering of a number of songs to be pulled from their original vinyl records, since many of the songs in the Yule Log have never been released on CD (out of 70 selections on the program, 34 are currently out-of-print, and of that 34, 12 have never been in print on CD).
