Galanes, Dimitrios
(Démétrios Galanis). Born May 22, 1879, in Athens; died Mar. 20, 1966, in Paris. Greek graphic artist. Member of the Paris Academy of Art (1945). Galanes moved to Paris in 1899 and began his studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts there in 1900. He did woodcuts (still life, landscape, and portraits), illustrations (for the works of Sophocles, Shakespeare, P. Mérimée, and others), and drawings.
